Individuals
who do not have pharmacy insurance may be eligible for limited or
short term supplies of some medications through the CAMC Ryan White Program.
Our
care coordinator and social worker will also help individuals apply for
pharmacy assistance programs. These programs, sponsored by
most pharmaceutical (drug) companies, provide medicines for
individuals who are unable to afford them.
ADAP
In
West Virginia, the Bureau for Medical Services administers a special
drug program for HIV/AIDS patients who are not eligible for
Medicaid. This program, funded by the federal government through the
Ryan White legislation, provides for coverage of certain FDA
approved drugs for HIV positive or AIDS patients who have incomes up
to 250 percent of the federal poverty level, but who are not
eligible for Medicaid. The
program is called the AIDS Drug Assistance Program (ADAP) and is
managed by the HIV Care Consortium. For
